Well, what a weird week. :-/

Hokay, so this week has been, well, weird.

I've lost (maybe lost is the wrong word) sooo much time this week in meetings it's unbelievable. It was so frustrating seeing as how I wanted to get so much done this week that never ended upbeing completed.

Come to tonite, someone is buggering off on a 3 month holiday, so we go off to one of the bars on campus for a few drinks. I'm talking to the team leader of the groundstation team, and he comes out asking me if I fancy working for him. I've been with the company for 9 months, and I've got another team trying to poach me from the current team I'm in. He was asking me how I fancy more travel, and he was thinking of me as a groundstation intallation guy. So he now wants me to think about it and get back to him.

So now I have noooo idea what to do.

Kiting Shenanigals

Finally I manage to get the new board out. Reasonable wind and no rain.

Unfortunately the heavens dropped a shed load of rain yesterday, and the field where I usualy fly was muddy as hell.

Despite that, what fun. It was a bit gusty so didn't get as much boarding as I wanted. The wind either dropped as I started moving, or it suddenly gusted and I got pulled off. But I can see me very soon getting going rather well.

After I packed everything away, someone let me have a go with his kite. Same sail area but different aspect ration. Man the power it generated. I managed to get a half decent jump with it, but just after I landed the wind gusted just as the kite powered up and lifted me clean off the ground and pulled me round. Incredible buzz. I've got my eye on a larger version to add to my quiver.

I'm a bit achey now, but rol on next weekend with a bit of wind and no rain. :-)

Antisocial cunts.

Well, some of you may already know this, but I feel like ranting here as well.

What drives people to vandalism or generally destroying other people's property?

I've got a motorcycle. It's parked outside my flat. It's in a bit of a sorry state as I hade an accident on it a few years back. Going too fast round a corner, hit the kerb, and it high-sides me. I've been meaning to repair it so I can ride it again, but crap weather and no real place to do the work has kinda been a negative influence.

Now, the bike has been a victim of a number of incidents:-

While parked up, the bike gets run over, caught under the bumper of the car and dragged about 10 feet across the car park.

Someone has a go at the steering lock and tries to pinch it.

Some kids use it as a play thing and it keeps on ending up on it's side.

It gets kicked over.

And today, I go out to check it over before soeone thinks of buying it. It's been turned round, the battery is on the floor looking a bit sorry, and fuel is leaing from somewhere.

This is just another example of the degradation of society. People have no respect for other people's property, or indeed for other people. I've often had to deal with inconsiderate people making excessive noise at inhuman hours of the morning, and what can only be described as gang arguments in the carpark.

I really think I oughta consider moving. :-(

A New Toy!!!

After trying for ages to get the kite board I was looking for, and have everywhere tell me "We've sold out of that one, it's the 2003 version", I eventually phoned up Just Add Water. Turns out they are the cheapest place for the 2004 board anyways. So yesterday, I go down, try it out and buy it. OMG is it flexible. It's gonna be great to to get some good air using it. Roll on a nice windy day so I can try it in anger. :-D

Those bastards at Cotswolds

That was where I was trying to get my board. I got a call earlier on today saying they haven't got any stock. THEN WHY THE HELL IS THE BOARD ON YOUR WEBSITE. The gits.

Ah well, I've had to go elsewhere. OK, it was a bit more expensive, but I get a hydropack with it. (fluid source backpack thingy) so the deal isn't too bad.

Kites n stuff

After my kiting extravaganza over my holiday, including my "flying lesson", I've ended up buying another new toy.

A kite land board.

Not a cheap toy, and one I could quite easily do immense damage to myself with, but seing as I can now get the kite to do pretty much what I want it to do, I thought I'd take it to the next level, and being pulled along behind a kite was always my ultimate aim. I'm just pissed off I gotta wait for the bloody thing. The shop next door doesn't have the one I want, so I had to order it off their website. How fucked up is that??

Old, single and depressed

Right, it's now Saturday. I'm not as bad as yesterday. Let me explain....

Every so often the company throws a party when a particular milestone/achievement happens. They lay on a buffet, some beer, and invite along the families. I felt like the only one there who was single. Every other couple seemed to have kids with them, and most of the guys are younger than me.

To make things worse, the one person (girl) I quite like wasn't there. I got left for a while with a girl who I think likes me, but is not the type of girl I like.

Made for a real fun drive home last night. Too much introspective time. Need to kick myself out of this kinda thought.
